Josh Nowack

Josh Nowack is the Chief Development Officer and an instructor at Inmates to Entrepreneurs, as well as a proud member of the board. He brings decades of executive experience, having served as CFO for several mid-sized companies and founded a successful tax and accounting firm. But Josh’s path hasn’t been a straight line—after losing everything, he fought his way back from divorce, homelessness, and open-heart surgery.

His lived experience—including the barriers he faced to reenter the workforce post-incarceration—led him to cofound Breaking Free Industries, a T-shirt printing shop in Santa Ana, CA. Breaking Free’s mission is to provide meaningful employment and a true second chance to formerly incarcerated individuals, all while delivering high-quality, cost-effective apparel.

Josh holds a BS in Accounting from Montclair State University, a Masters in Psychology from University of Santa Monica, and an MBA from Duke University. He previously held CPA licenses in both California and Maryland.
